Can my glass be repaired same day?

When it comes to same-day glass replacement there are a few things you’ll have to keep in mind. Not all broken glass can be replaced or repaired on the same day. We’ll go over some of the different types of glass and how that will affect the turnaround time for your particular glass replacement.

Single Pane Emergency Glass Replacement

Single pane glass can be in homes or businesses. Single pane glass for homes is usually thin 1/16 to 1/8 DS annealed glass.  Commercial windows and doors will use a thicker standard for glass at ¼. Valleywide Glass specializes in same day replacement when possible. Most windows in homes and businesses can use annealed glass which can be cut and installed on site in many cases. Some windows that are close to doors or the ground will need to be tempered and that will have to be ordered. For same day glass replacement when tempered glass was originally used can be replaced same day with laminated safety glass in many cases. Laminated glass is considered a safety glass even though it uses annealed plate glass. The thin laminate layer helps keep the glass in place and has less risk of cutting for that reason.

Insulated Dual Pane Glass Repair

Dual-Pane glass replacement in most cases won’t be able to be completed in one day unless it’s a standard size patio door which Valleywide Glass carries many in stock. Modern homes built after 2000 might have one of the panes in their dual pane be a tinted or Low-E energy efficient glass. For Insulated dual pane glass customers will have to secure the window and wait for at least a week before the new glass can be cut, fabricated and delivered to our shop. There are many types of Low-E Glass. Some of the most common Low-e we see is SolarBan 60 or 70 and RLE 55/27. We have many samples from our manufacturers in our shop that we can use to match up many types of residential and commercial glass types.

Storefront Doors, Shower Doors and Patio Doors Tempered Glass Replacement

Glass that is part of or near a door is usually required to be a safety glass. Tempered glass is the most common safety glass and is more cost-effective than laminated glass. Laminated glass uses 2 pieces of either annealed or tempered glass and seals them together with an interior film. This allows the lite to stay somewhat together even when broken, the thin laminate layer holds the glass together adding safety and making it harder to enter. Frameless Shower Doors are almost always tempered glass. Common thicknesses for shower doors are 1/4 up to 1/2 in thickness. Storefront Door Glass Replacement can usually be done in the same day using 1/4 Laminated glass. Valleywide Glass stocks laminated glass sheets for commercial glass replacement in clear, bronze, gray and solex.
