How to turn old scrap mirror into a dog house
Build a wood frame for the dog house
Using regular 2x4s and plywood you can build the frame for your dog house. It’s a good idea to make a drawing first and have the plans in place first. This was just kind of a last-minute idea for some scrap mirror left over from a job. You can build a dog house in many ways. You can use a roof hatch to get in or other types of glass or wood doors. In this case we decided to keep it open.
Cut the mirror to size
Cutting mirror is like cutting glass. Using a glass cutter you can cut the mirror into the sizes you need for the walls and top of the dog house. In this case, I also had to cut a piece of clear glass and put some one way mirror film tint on it to add the infinity mirror effect we are looking for.

Install the channel for the mirrored walls
You can put the channel along the bottom for the mirror to rest in. You can use rubber shims in the bottom of the channel to adjust the height and protect the mirror. You can use tape to give it a test run and make sure everything fits.
Secure the mirror to the J-frame and walls
Once you are sure all your sizes are correct and you are ready to permanently install you can grab your caulking gun and add some mirror mastik to the back of the mirror where it will contact the frame. Once you have put together the dog house and it’s properly secured you can add some tape to help hold it in place while the mastik dries.
Add the Mirror Trim
Once the mirrors are ready you can add the trim. These plastic corner pieces can be cut and fit along the corners to hide the rough edges of the mirror. They come with self-adhesive edges.
