French Door Glass Replacement Phoenix
The most common sizes we come across when changing out the glass in residential patio doors would be 20×64, 22×64 and 22×80. In many cases same day or next day replacements can be done on door inserts. We have dual pane tempered glass inserts with blinds in between the panes and also with internal grids. If you need new glass in your home patio door send a picture to us via email or text and get a fast estimate on your glass replacement. These units can vary in thickness so it’s possible that we will have to measure and order your glass if it’s not a common size or thickness. In that case, replacements can take 3-4 business days for the glass to be manufactured.
Tempered Glass for Exterior Doors
All doors use tempered safety glass as required by building code. Tempered glass for doors comes in single pane for older styles and dual pane for modern glass door installations. Most newer homes in Phoenix will have dual pane and Low-E energy efficient glass. Some things to consider when you are getting a quote for your glass replaced are the size of the glass, if it’s single or dual pane, and if it has any tint to the glass. Common glass tints for residential glass would be bronze (slight brown), Low-E(slight green or blue) and sometimes you will see Gray(more common in commercial).

Glass Door Insert Replacement
Not all doors with glass have the same size. Some inserts take up most of the door and sometimes, like in the example below you have what’s called a half lite. Glass only takes up the top half of the door. Common sizes for these types of replacement are 22×36 with a few different thicknesses available.

Replacing Residential Glass in Doors
In most cases, you will keep your existing frame and just replace the glass. Common French Door frame types can be wood, composite, vinyl or aluminum. What you have in there will be what your replacement is. In some cases it’s possible to put in an upgraded unit. For example, if you had a door like the picture above with a clear insert you could add an insert with internal blinds, this is assuming that the unit is 1″ thick. Many times the units will be 1/2″ thick and internal blinds may not be available in that size.
