Use a tape measure of if you don’t have one handy you can use a piece of paper(11″ long) and get an apprxomiate width and height of the glass that needs to be replaced. You don’t need to measure the whole window just the panel that needs to be replaced. For this example the right side of this sliding window.
Is it single or dual pane glass?
A single or Dual pane is referring to the thickness of the unit. Triple pane glass is pretty rare. Sometimes you’ll notice that the interior or exterior pane is broken and the other is intact. This would obviously be a double paned window.
What Color/tint is your glass?
You can hold a business card or white piece of paper behind your glass and look through it. You might notice a tint like gray, bronze or green/blue(energy efficient glass).
Does it have grids or mullions between the panes or outside?
These decorative grids can be in between the panes, outside the panes or built into the frame. They can usually be matched and included in your glass replacement.
